MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WTAT-TV) – Changes are on the way to ease traffic congestion in Mount Pleasant.

The Department of Transportation wants to build a new road from Six Mile to Hamlin. It would run parallel between Highway 17 and Rifle Range Road.

A meeting was held on Tuesday where they came up with a plan and timeline.

Construction should begin in August 2021 and will be completed in about one year.
