Embracing Breast Cancer Survivors: Local Organization to Host Gala
CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Cities all across the country, including right here in Charleston, are lit up pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
City officials, organizations, survivors and so many others are hoping to draw attention to the still arduous fight against a disease that is expected to claim more than 41,000 lives this year.
Cynthia Smalls, a two-time breast cancer survivor and co-founder of Embracing U Breast Cancer Foundation, shared her journey from diagnosis to remission.
She founded the organization with two other breast cancer survivors in 2010. Each year, they hold a gala aimed at empowering, embracing and education breast cancer survivors and those battling the disease.
This year’s Candlelight Gala will feature keynote speaker Karen Eubanks Jackson, a three-time breast cancer survivor and founder and CEO of Sisters Network, Inc.
