CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 24 NEWS NOW) — Who doesn’t love receiving a beautiful bouquet of fresh cut flowers — or using garden-full of flora to dress up a party?

The floral industry generates hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

About 75-percent of domestically cut flowers are grown in California and a good portion of imported from Colombia and Ecuador.

But, it is so important to support local growers.

We welcomed Laura Mewbourn, co-founder and board member for Lowcountry Flower Growers, a new nonprofit comprised of a coalition of flower farmers, to share how you can support our local floral industry.
