Thousands of residents asked to evacuate Georgetown County
GEORGETOWN COUNTY – BRODIE HART (WTAT-TV)–
Georgetown County Authorities now urging people there to get out before it’s too late. The National Guard is already in place assisting with evacuations. We saw them working throughout the weekend. Brody Hart is live in Georgetown County right now tracking the story.
The next twenty-four hours and even throughout the rest of the week, possibly into Wednesday, we could see a lot of serious flooding in Georgetown. Authorities are expecting record flooding in the Waccamaw River. Two lanes going into Pawley’s Island are closed right now in anticipation of flooding.It doesn’t look like a lot of people are evacuating right now, in fact we are seeing a lot of drivers heading onto Pawley’s Island this morning. There are about eight thousand people in Georgetown County officials are asking to evacuate ahead of those rising floodwaters. Georgetown County schools will be closed indefinitely.
