A South Carolina County Notices an Increase In Tourism During the Pandemic

While many areas worldwide saw a decrease in tourism during the pandemic, one county noticed an increase. South Carolina’s Georgetown County saw record-breaking numbers, bringing $500,000 more to the state accommodations tax numbers coming from vacation rentals and hotel check-ins compared to the year before. It now totals $2.5 million, which is then re-invested to the area. FOX 24 News reporter Amy Russo spoke with Georgetown County Public Information Officer Jackie Broach about the pros and cons.
